Barda’s relationship with her body is interesting, and Kirby’s relationship to her body as her artist is interesting. These shots never strike me as cheesecake—she’s simply so in tune with her body and there is no question that she has full ownership of herself.
In looking for pictures of her, I’m come across a lot of post-Kirby depictions that sexualize her by making her skinny or make her curvy in a more traditionally feminine manner, but those images never feel like Barda, they feel like cosplay.

Yeah, this, despite the spread legs and thrust-out chest and battle bikini, does not feel male-gazey at all. And I seriously respect Kirby for that.
